Max speed Silverado 3500

How about writing to GM to get that data.

It is worth the few mins it would take to send an e-mail to a gm customer service rep., they might just surprise us all and get you the data that you seek.

Make sure that you include the engine that you are wanting to get the 6.0 gasser or the duramax, it might make a difference in the answer.

Good luck.

I agree, send an email / letter to GM. You might be surpised what they will answer. But the speed can be reprogrammed by EFI Live and I am sure blackbear and the tech II as well. But that doesn't supply any documentation.

Thank you all for your suggestions. In the meantime I've solved the problem. I found some guys who will take care of the whole registering process. Ok, that isn't for free, but they have the knowledge, they know the right poeple and they also have all needed numbers.

The thing with writing to GM is a good idea. First I contacted a few dealers. Unfortunately there I just got the answer that the max speed is not needed in the USA, at least not for these kind of trucks, so they are not able to give me any official numbers for that.

I also sand an email to GM directly, but got no answer on that. Probably I had been more successful if I had had a direct email address to the concerning department.

The idea with the programmer is good, but would probably be unsuccessful as well. If I'd go to the registering department and tell them that I reprogrammed the speed they would probably ask what else I changed. The result would probably be that they would check the truck even better than they do anyway...and they would say I can change it again...so they may pretend to have the ECU sealed so I can't change anything... At the end that would cause more problems than it would solve.

But thank you for the hint with the programmer. That remembers me the next question, but I think I'll open a new thread for that.

Btw. after having solved all issues with GM (they do all they can to make sure the dealers are not selling new cars/trucks to non US-residents like me) I now found a good, one year old used 3500 Silverado LT. So if everything is working out as I expect, I may have it here in Europe in a few weeks.

Thank you for your help
