New Rear Brake Pads- Brakes now dragging

I just put new rear brake pads on a 2002 1500 2wd. The rotor was in good shape and the caliper slides were cleaned and greased. The slides moved freely and the caliper compressed fairly easily. Now it seems like the brakes are dragging. Could it just be the new pads setting?

They are getting hot and smelling, and I sear I can actually feel the drag.

Sounds like the calipers are sticking. Is it happening on both sides?

Jack up the rear end and turn each one to see if it is both of them or just one.
