Very curious how much power is lost through the drivetrain..

Im looking into a raylar cam and stainless works Long tube headers, raylar says a gain of 90+ HP from the two with the right tune.. so iwas looking on you tube and a guy had the 103 cam and LT,s and made 366 hp and 442 ft lbs at the wheels..

So if the 8.1 makes 340 hp and 465 at the motor whats the stocks numbers at the tires??

Thanks

I'd be willing to bet if he's claiming 90, hope for 70. These companies seem to get they're numbers from a different world than the customer comes from. JMHO.

With an Allison it's about a 25-28% drivetrain loss.

the simple math of 25% of 340 is around 85.. and that number is alot more than i figured

Theres no real way to minimize lost power is there??

I just firgure using the best fluids possible wont hurt.

Depends alot on the dyno as well.I would think a 8.1L would put down about 275hp and about 430 ftlbs.

Too many factors to accurately say without dynoing the vehicle before and after on the same dyno. 4L80E plus 3/4 ton 4WD drivetrain? I'd say an easy 50ish hp.
