Finally got it!

Well,

I posted a couple weeks ago about getting a truck and was still overseas at the time. I'm finally back in the states and I did pick up a '12. I ended up passing on the 6.2L because I couldn't find one in the price range I was looking for, but I wouldn't say that a 5.3L is settling too bad.

I'm still in the middle of moving and am living in temporary quaters so I can't do much with it right now. I don't have a site with pics so you'll just have to take my word for it, it looks pretty good. 5.3L, CC, Black, LTZ. Before I signed the dotted line though I started to back out of the deal and said I would think about it. The truck was parked next to one with 20" Chevy black rims and I said if they threw those in I'd be hard pressed to leave. Well, I got them with no additional cost, they tried to talk me into paying $1000 for them but I said I'd think about it and just before I got up they agreed to just throwing them in. I love the look of this truck, but man is it going to be a chore. Anyway, just wanted to update you guys.

I have been using the search feature, but I've been out of the game for so long it's a lot to get caught back up.

What sites are most reputable to buy parts from? Autoanything just seems so fake, lol.

Recomendations:

All Black Painted bed cover:

Leveling kit: Guessing RC 2" is everyones favorite

CAI: Not looking for anything I need a computer to fix, just want more throaty sound

Dual Exhaust: Looking for Bolt on with minor welding if needed (want a deeper sound)

I'd like to do these minor things soon and there's a lot of everything out there so I'm just looking for what you all would do or have done that you'd recommend. Thanks

Congrats!

I have dealt with Realtruck.com and they have been pretty good. For the level kit go straight to the rc website

Def. 2" RC kit is the way to go.

Extang full tilt is an awesome functional cover

I'd pass on the Cold air kit, a drop in k&n or similar filter will do the job.

Borla, Corsa, or Magnaflow is the only way to go for an exhaust. All three are full stainless steel kits and will give you the sound your looking for.

Welcome back and Congrats on the new truck

Welcome and congrats. I've got the 5.3 too and she does great. If you were overseas protecting our Country, my family and I thank you. If you weren't, glad your back and why the hell did you leave. :)

Haha, thanks man. I am in the USAF and I did a 4 year tour in Japan with a little detour in afghanistan last summer through to Thanksgiving. I am HAPPY to be back and driving a chevy again.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Just got a Magnaflo with dual pipes out the rear... exactly the sound I was looking for. It's not annoyingly loud and in cruise mode you can barely notice it, but when you step on the gas you know it's there. New to the louisiana area and it seems EVERYONE here owns a lifted full size, I am definately out of my league here, lol. Next on the agenda is rhino lining, an airraid CAI system, BakFlip F1, then the RC leveling kit.

I really liked the sound of the magnaflow on my old 03 5.3L. Even when towing :thumps:

Congrats.

I have an appointment next tuesday for a rhino lining install but I think I'm going to just get the bedrug. I don't do a lot of hauling and don't plan on it in the future, and since I'm getting a decent hard fold tonneau cover I think the bedug more than suits my needs. Has anyone here had both in the past? Is the Bedrug worth it since it costs the exact same as a spray in bed liner? Thanks
