I plan on Waxinf my grandma's 2002 Malibu soon, and its filthy, considering she has some health issues, can't drive it much, and it hasn't been washed in a few months. If I run it to a car wash 4 miles away, do you think it would pick up enough dirt on the way back to damage the paint when I wax, even if I rub off the spot with a terry-cloth towel before I wax it?

I think if I dry it very good before I start back, that it wouldn't pickup hardly any dirt, and just a cloth wipe down would be fine to remove the dirt.

I myself have a indigo blue truck. And we know dark colors like the indigo or black seem to pick up dirt and dust like a magnet. I don't think you'll pick up any dirt as long as it's dried well and you avoid puddles and such. As far as dust? You'll probably notice a little. I suggest using one of those California Car Dusters. It picks up dust like nobody's business. If you don't have one, a dusting with a terry cloth towel might be sufficient enough.

I wouldnt worry about it. Unless you are going down dirt roads. Maybe you live in the desert though, I dont know. If you are riding pavement 4 miles, you should be allright.  :smash:  :smash:
