Objective opinions needed

Okay, imagine this, you see two things:

A Black 1990 Chevy Truck, as described in my sig

or

a white (alpinwiess) 1987 BMW 325is, 5-speed Getrag, with BBS wheels, Supersprint or ANSA SPORT exhaust(no its not a rice exhaust, its a REAL import hi-po set up, no buzzing allowed), Custom Compter Programming, Cold Air intake, and either a Schrick High Performance Cam or an H&R Cup Kit suspension

putting out around 160 RWHP with the bolt on stuff

The BMW has 205 thousand miles, complete records, I know the history of it, and only has 65K on the engine and half the other components(it had a big overhaul at 140K). Its definately ALL (95%)highway miles since sround 185K.

I don't need a truck, which will automatically send some of you to say "sell it", and the BMW has a LOT better gas milage, with fewer thing to replace

Man, the Beemer would be a sweet ride... but that is alot of miles. Obviously you know your German cars, and I'm sure you've checked it out thoroughly, so it must be OK. One thing I have learned is that true enthusiasts will take care of their automobiles, and they will get 500K from them before they retire them. So if this car checks out, then it is fine I'm sure!!!

Finally, you don't really realize how much you need/use a truck, until you don't have one anymore...

well, the BMW is my dad's current daily driver, and as I said we know the hostory of it, and ironically our mechanic is the guy who hired the BMW Mechanic who used to own the car.

Although I have just been told that I can't gain more than 25 Rear Wheel HP without tearing the engine apart and replacing everything, or adding a turbo or N02

OK, from my personal experience, whether or not you don't think you need it, you always need a truck. I bought my first truck 2 years ago, it was great, I loved it. I had a only owned sports cars before that. Well, I started getting the itch for a speedy little car again, and the only way was for me to get rid of the truck. I ended up with a 2002 Lexus IS300 in september. Long story short, I missed the utility of a truck and just bought another truck, traded our sweet 2000 prelude SH in on it.

Personally I stick with the truck and would tell you the same thing if you had a Ford or Dodge instead of the Chevy.

You'll get more use from the truck.It will get you to the same places that the BMW will and when the truck breaks down it wouldn't be as expensive to fix as the Bimmer will be.

Just my personal opinion but that is what you asked for.

I don't know the mileage on the truck but, it looks like you've taken quite a bit of pride in it which probably means it has been very well maintained.

I would keep the truck.

Do both........the 90 truck would not be worth that much now to sell...NO Offence....and your Dad is probably not going to charge you top dollar for the BMW. Shaners is right, you can always use a truck....the day after you sell it you will have something to haul and the BMW won't cut it. Unless of course you are looking to haul some chicks.......

I say hang onto the truck, more uses as others have indicated. Although the BMW has been well cared for, I'd still be a bit iffy about spending the cash on a car with that mileage...you get into the position of having to retro-fit parts,etc...been there, done that. I also had a 92 Jimmy that I got with 71k on the clock before I traded it in for my Rado. To make a long story short, I racked up mileage quickly and thus, I got to the point of trade it in and get some cash for it, or hang onto it and take a hit later, thus the trade.

I personally would keep the truck. Many people think I am crazy because if I somehow ended up with a Ferarri or Lambo I would sell it in a second and buy a truck.

Fiberglass roll pan(cracked real well)

Scratched paint

pretty dirty looking, and it sold for around $6,900 within a few days.

To me, thats way to many miles to even consider... And Id weant at least a 3 liter... Do some looking around, and Im sure you can find a better deal on one...
