Any body try the sylvania silver stars?

Any coments on them?

I have them on both my trucks and I really like them. They are white with no iff-color on the perimeters, and about 20% brighter than halogen.  Autozone here has them for $20 ea, with a Sylvannia factory rebate of $10/pr. Everyone else sewlls them for $25 ea. Closest thing I've found to HID

I just purchased both high and low beams off E-BAY for 36.99 a pair, shipping included. I hope they are all that they are cracked up to be. Take a LOOK!

Still a couple of dollars cheaper at Autozone after you add in the local sales tax and deduct the rebate, but you wouldn't have to fool with the rebate crap.  Its worth it either way.  I think you could park a Lexus or Mercedes next to a HD that's equipped with these bulbs and not  be able to see any difference.

I started looking into this whole headlight thing and what a mess! I started with the ones in the above threads and ran into several other manufacturors/types all claiming to be the best!   How the heck do you decide??? Im lost!!!! ???

Treat it the same as any other purchase--whether its a headlight or a truck--forget the manufacturers bragging and talk to those that own the product.  They will tell you what they think. Like anything else, there will be a variety of opinions so you just have to "average" the responses. In this case I tried a few of the others, threw them away, and found that these really work.  There may well be other brands of similar performance that have just hit the market, or maybe not. You can always buy one bulb and try it--not a lot of money invested that way. That is how I did it, and it was a good way to compare with the halogens.

PIAA makes a bulb called eXtreme White, which is the "original" HID look-like bulb (well, actually there SuperWhite came out before HID's did -- about 6 years ago -- so maybe that's the original). I have used PIAA bulbs in many cars/trucks over the last 10 years and have liked them very much, but there's no denying that they cost more then the Sylvanias do. And with that $10 rebate I may just try a pair of them myself...

I've got the PIAA Superwhites that Jim mentioned in every vehicle I own.  Wouldn't have it any other way.

 

I did try the Sylvania cool blue in the Tahoe for awhile, but didn't notice any discernable difference between them and stock.  So I took them out and put them in the G/F's car.

The Cool Blues are not much  different than stock, and i'm sure the sales have dropped since they introduced the new ones.

I checked em out and they look good.  I am planning on buy a set for the low and the high beams.  Especially since there is a $10 rebate when you buy a pair.  They are pricey ($20 each) but they look like they are worth it.  

 

I am going to wait until spring when it gets warm out to add them

The Cool Blues are not much  different than stock, and i'm sure the sales have dropped since they introduced the new ones.

Yea, I did buy them a long time ago, so they were probably nothing different than a blue tint in them vs. the standard Sylvania's.

 

But I do believe most new GM vehicles come with Sylvania's from the factory.  I know that's what I've pulled from the Camaro, Aurora, G/F's Malibu, and of course my truck.

 

Ryan, why wait?  It takes less than 2 minutes to change the bulbs on our trucks.  You could've had an entire set in before your father found the right socket to change your Mom's oil.

Maybe but i have that PITA grill guard.  I changed my drls last winter and that was an adventure.  My hands are permanently blue from that.  I igure when i take it off this spring to clean it up ill change them then

 

Oh another place i know torx drivers are used is on my grill guard.  They are used to hold the pieces that go over the lights.

GM loves Torx's.  T-10's and T-15's to be specific and they use them on every fricken piece of plastic trim they can find!

I got them and I love them. :thumb: I do most of my driving at night and there is a huge difference. I paid $25 a piece at Pep Boys.
