Transmission question

While doing a recent oil change I noticed it looked like something between the bell housing and oil pan on my truck had shifted. Can anyone make sense of these pictures? It's a 2010 GMC Sierra V6 W/T auto with 12,000 miles on it. I think I'm smelling some burning fluid but all levels are normal and no leaks. The crack has been there since I bought it new.

Jesus, the heck with all of that. Crack + gasket moving out of place? My gosh, get that thing to the dealer and raise hell!

that is a broken torque converter housing

poof ,you get a new one under warranty (housing )

there is no gasket there

take it in

Govtech, I guess I used the wrong wording, but what is that thing hanging down? Is that a piece of tran case? To the OP, any results from you dealer visit?

the top pic is facing fwd and the 2 black plugs are for oil pan bolts access i think,

the flange facing to the camera is the oil pan ,same oil pan for 60s or 80s trannies,

2nd pic clearly shows the crack/broken bell housing (torque converter housing ) called now because the piece (assembly) is replacable,it also shows the rubber plug and the tin TC access plug

something got caught between the pan and tranny or a machining issue,ive never seen that before

no,just the front housing ,it bolts to the main tranny carcuss

easy to do ,,,,,,

but sumfin caused it ,i hope they finger it out !!!

Well I got the truck back after a week in the shop. New torque convertor housing is in so the crack is taken care of which is great. To me the transmission still looks offset but I crawled under a used one on the lot and it looked the same as mine however a 2012 new one did not (it was flush across). These were all V6 w/t. The service writer didn't know a transmission from a tuxedo.

Can someone else with that model take a look and tell me if it looks the same as my pictures minus the crack? Thanks.

its gonna be the same ,it 's alright ,normal ,just different pan etc
