Hope everyone had a great Xmas! I know all gifts are good but if you had to choose, what was your best gift under the tree this year?  :thumb:

I would have to say mine was a Kadak LS443 Dig. camera. Haven't tried it out yet but very anxious to see what it can do.

PS2

Same here, and I already got 5 games for it :(

Other than that I'd have to say clothes, because it's always nicer when someone else buys my clothes for me, saves me all the trouble and frustration.

My best gift was the smiles on the kids faces when they came downstairs on Christmas morning.

I didn't really get much, because if I need something I usually just go out and buy it.  I did get a new electric razor and a new pair of Nikes but I picked both of them out so it was no surprise...

Not to be cheesy, but to be honest it was when I saw my g/f face when she opened up her diamond stud earrings.  They were her first diamonds, so it meant alot to her and myself.  Next is that #### ring....  :(

That was a treat for me as well.  My girlfriend almost started crying when she opened up the 16x20 framed picture of her son that I took.  The look on her face was priceless.  Needless to say all of her relatives were oooing and ahhhing at it that evening.

However, when I surprised her again after she opened the rest of her little presents w/ the diamond earrings and necklace she was speechless again.  But, I don't think the jewerly even competed w/ the picture.  I've always said it, expensive gifts can in no way compete w/ the gifts from the heart.

I got the f*cking shaft AGAIN!

I'm kinda in the same boat as Shaners.  If there's something I want, I simply go get it myself.  I won't let any family member order me performance parts for any vehicle becuase knowing my luck, I'd get parts for a mustang or an F-150.

However, this year I made it clear that I wanted that life sized remote control Avalanche.  I made it clear in September when my sister and I were standing next to it in the store (FAO Schwartz) and I said  "THIS IS WHAT I WANT FOR X-MAS!!"

I then proceeded to tell my Mother, G/F, and anyone who'd listen that I wanted this.  the day after Thanksgiving, my sister was going shopping and asked again what I wanted...I immediately reminded her of that Avalanche.  This went on two or three more times between Thanksgiving and X-Mas.  I even found it at Wal-Mart with the G/F with me and I pointed it out AGAIN!  Anyone seeing a pattern here?  Obviously they didn't!  I guess the only way I could've drilled it home was if I brought them to the store, carried it to the checkout, and payed for it myself!   :(

So what did CMNT get for X-mas;

From Mom

-about 10 Matchbox cars and a carrying case for them

-A Nike duffle bag (Mom works part time at the outlet factory)

-A Nike umbrella (actually I did need a new umbrella)

-A Star Wars 2003 calendar

From my sister and brother in law;

-A neon lit "Heartbeat of America - Chevy" wall clock.  (It's beautiful but I have NO WHERE TO HANG IT!)

From the G/F

-A Sony do everything universal remote.  This thing is bigger than a PDA and has an encyclopedia that I need to read in order to simply program the fuggin thing.  She gave me a Buy.com catalog (as her sister is a Market rep their) and circle stuff I thought was cool.  So I circled it, I never expected to get it.  It's nice and all, but I really don't need it since all 15 remotes I have are Sony anyway and they're all universal and control each other.

At least they did hear me when I said "NO CLOTHES!"

I didn't get any clothes, but I also didn't get the "GODD*MN AVALANCHE I WANTED!!!"

Sorry, I'm a little ticked!

Well, I gave my G/F the diamond earings and the diamond pendant.  She absolutely loved them and said that I have great taste.  Meet her the day after and she wore them for me.  But what was even better, and here's a free one for all you guys, earlier that evening I meet her at a restraunt and brought a long a couple of lavender roses.  Absolute home run.  First she absolutely loved them.  Second every woman there couldn't stop starring at them and third she even was complimented on them at least twice.  Try it some time, they just eat it up, especially if another woman talks about it.  This actually turned out better than the diamonds and it was a #### of a lot cheaper.  Many points for that one.

Anyways, I didn't get very much from others.  Not really what it is about for me anyways.  I much rather give because I like the feeling and love seeing the happiness.

So in the spirit of giving, I even gave myself a present this year, a Sony surround sound home theater with dvd.  Awsome gift this year.  Spent a couple of hours setting it up, drilling holes in the walls for the cables and speaker mounts.  Watched Black Hawk Down and you would swear that the war was right there in the room.

I am just glad I don't have a girlfriend right now to spend money on because I spent all the money I had on my family and 1 other friend.

My favorite gift was the Escort Passport 8500 Radar Detector.  I've been asking for one for 3 years (including Birthdays) and I finally got it.  This thing is better than the Valentine 1 and has a s**t load of features.  Time to plug it in and drive around really fast

I also got a really cool license plate to go up front.  It's dark blue with yellow and orange flames.  I'll try to post a pic if we ever get a new digital camera (Alamo Car Rental stole ours).

I know what you mean. :thumb: :thumb: If it weren't for the kids, Xmas wouldn't be much for me. My kids were wound tight all day!  :D

This is also gonna sound cheesy but at midnight mass looking over and seeing my gf singing oh come all yee faithful and joy to the world.  Never realized how wonderful her voice sounded.

As for actual wrapped gifts it would have to be the helms manuals which i bought (mom and grandma paid for).

Another great gift was all the snow (but not the salt  :( )

    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
    • He is not saying that an SAE *W20 will have more viscosity than a *W40 due to MORE VII polymers. He is saying that although multiple *W40 may post in the PDS the same or similar 100 C and 150 C viscosities that the blenders choice of modifier TYPE and AMOUNT to get his chosen base to grade will not give identical real world viscosities in shear and at temperature. All will pass the SII test but not all will pass the 100 C HTHS (unpublished value) testing the blender does and relies on to get the required by law "percentage improvement' referenced to his last great work.    Tis the problem with the lie. Once told others are required to support it.
    • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear.   Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.

REAR AXLE - 3.73 RATIO INC. GVWR, 11,350 LBS. (5148 KG) INC. FRONT AND REAR PARK ASSIST, INC. ULTRASONIC     I have been launching my new boat and noticed some things related to the parking brake.. I usually set the parking brake (habit) when on flat ground for typical driving.    When backed down on the launch ramp to launch the boat and I place gear selector into Park, the parking brake activates automatically. My second nature is to set parking brake manually and noticed I was turing the parking brake off.  The parking brake appears to be setting itself automatically.   I looked all over my owner's manual and only found references to being on an incline and manually setting parking brake, or at times parking brake will be auto engaged, but nothing specific to my situation.    When is the parking brake automatically engaged?  Under what specific circumstances?  Can the auto set parameters be changed?     I like the auto set feature.  It would be nice if always engaged when shifted into Park and released when shifted out of Park (like my wifes 2025 RAV4).   Thanks!
