I'm sure you guys have gotten this email several times already. I am wanting to get my first lifted truck. Finding one set-up the way I want is proving difficult. I have found one that is 8 hour drive from me. Its a Avalanche, Z71, 6" lift and 35's. The dealer that has it bought it at an auction & doesn't know anything about it, other than a clean car fax. I am torn on driving there and buying it or not, when I hesitate they always sell fast. It has Fox brand shocks on it front and back...I do not know the first thing about lifts, but I've attached some pics of the truck, one showing the underside of the rear....hopefully someone can tell me if it looks like a quality job or not?

Thanks for any help/advice!

I can't tell from those pics, but just going off of the fact that it has Fox resis it's probably set up right...just an assumption. It does however have a 3" body lift as well so you're looking at closer to 9" or so of actual lift. Are there any pics of the front end...ie crossmember?

Oh, and welcome to the site. It's truely the best of its kind.

Thanks! Is there anyway to tell if its been geared properly for the larger wheels/tires or do you have to open it up and see what's in it? If someone is going to go to the expense of adding a quality lift kit, surely they would gear it properly too?

I'm no expert, but you'll probably be able to tell a lot about the gears by just driving it. I would guess they did it right, everything else looks really professional.

Another question....I'm obviously not buying this truck for fuel economy, but please give me you best guesses on fuel economy. It has the 5.3L. Am I crazy to think it may do 13/17?

Personally I won't buy a pre lifted truck although this one does look promising. My reason is because the person that had it before could have been hard on the truck. I found a nice lifted gmc a while back ran the vid thru carfax found out it was rolled and the dealer said no bad history in the ad. You have to be careful with rec vehiles like these.
