Air Filter for Sierra

I've got a 2008 5.3L V8 Z71 4x4 ext cab sierra. Filter is a bit dirty, so I'm going to change it. I've read a couple of places that some replacement filters (i.e. K&N) for my truck might trip the MAF (mass air flow) indicator. Is there any truth to this. I get a discount at my GM dealer, so the price is the same at the dealer for an OEM filter or if I go and risk a K&N filter. Any thoughts on this? I was considering a K&N 33 air filter hoping it might be a better quality and perform a bit better. I think the overall construction is a bit different though.....which may change the air flow characteristics..........and result in a MAF issue.

I ran a K&N in mine for about 40k miles without one issue.

The problem is with over-oiling the filter. As long as you don't over-oil, you won't have a problem.

I got rid of the K&N because I don't have time for that routine. I want to be able to blow it out with compressed air, or replace it, & be on my way .... so I bought an identical one from Amsoil. Fits right in the K&N CAI.
