Hi boy oh boy am I frustrated and really need some helpful advice. Iv'e been at this for seven hours!

I have a 2007 GMC Yukon SLT with the factory trailering package. The front and rear passenger side park lights do not work when the headlights are turned on. Both bulbs are good. I followed the wires from each lamp assembly to the fuse box under the hood and the switch on the dash and cannot find a short or worn out section. When I replace the fuse and turn the lights on the fuse (#26) burns out. I have break, turn and hazard signals but no park lights on the passenger side. All lights on the drivers side work. Any suggestions other than taking it to the dealer and giving up my first born for the cost of repair(s)?

Voila. Figured it out with the help of Youtube, Added power to each light and probed the line along the way. When I had no more power figured were the break was. It was a wire loom inside the factory trailer wire harness pinched on the frame and shorting out. Re-sodered the wire, added a fuse and everything works. Sure glad I took a break and had a coffee with Baileys and retackled the job.

Thanks Baileys!

good thread for a story if i may..

we have (canadian army) 03 k2 hd chevys and have a 24 volt system for radios right ? so a few army techs are pissin around trying to find a 24v alternator so the local dealer says use a 12 alternator and transfer the 12v feed wire to the rectifier bridge and it'll become a 24v alternator...

so the army buys this BS and does this to a 12v alt,.....they hook it up and pooooof,,,,up goes the 12v feed wire in a cloud of smoke, lol,,,

well after a few fire extinquishers goes off,a big gong shows starts with transport safety and fire dept being involved lol

they say give it to Rob ,independant tech from another section,he'll figure it out ,so i take the alt off and find no pinch under it because the wire was under instead of over top the alt,

im disappointed not finding anything quickly,i look at the old 24v alt and see this orange gasket under both of the rectifier bridges ....hmmmmm i say , i take the rectifier bridge off the 12v alt and find no gasket at all, direct short to ground obviously......

dealer was the one to say to use the 12v alt lol, they are paying for the real 24v alt ,we got thru the army parts system,

i cut out all the melted loom, and fired it up ,all good ,no lights ,,good to go !!! lol
