Bead Blasting a truck frame

[06 GA Chevy]

I have a bit of surface rust on the frame of my 06. They quoted me $750 with the truck on the frame to bead blast it.

 

Should I take some precautions on having this done with the truck on the frame?

 

I am just looking for some general information from people who have had their truck frames done, with the body on the frame still.

 

I am afraid of damage, or clogging something up

Just hit it with some por 15 on the rust

Dont get it blasted.. just pick up a couple quarts of POR-15 and brush it on. A buddy of mine did his frame a few years ago.. Still no rusting through. You can order it online.. just google it.

The chassis on these trucks is coated with a wax based anti-corrosive. I think if you try to bead blast it you might end up with quite a mess. You can buy the original coating in a spray can:

I touch it up when I change the oil. It's a good product, you can use it over minor surface rust no problem. Since the orginal coating is not a paint, I think POR 15 might not adhere all that well.
