I am replacing my cheap stick on tailgate cap with the nicer flat top "spoiler cap".  My question is.. do I need to get inside the tailgate to place the nuts for the 4 screws that hold it in place.  These are some funny looking hardware and I am a little confused right now.  I do not have a service manual.

TIA

I don't know what the nuts are like...  Are they square plastic?

If they are, then maybe they are like the ones that hold on the Bugflectors.  Just place them in the hole and then when you run the screw in they will expand to provide the fit.

I know Ryan just got the new manuals for Xmas, and maybe it has some better info....

Thanks shaners

its weird. the nuts are steel and about 1/2" tall threaded all the way through.  there is a small lip on one end with some sort of sealant around the outside on the nut side of the piece.  Darn things were over 6$ apiece

Those spoiler nuts require a special tool to install them, similar to a pop rivet gun. Most of your body shops have them. Six bucks a piece for the nuts, what a rip!
