Fog light

If I go ahead and buy the oem fog light kit and install it my self will I need reprogramming by the dealer, reason I ask is because my friend with the same truck was told by the local dealer that he would need to take his truck in after installing the oem fog light, dealer told him that's the only way it would work otherwise it wouldn't.

As far as I know NO programming is required. Other may chime in here, but, all you should need is the new headlight switch, the lights and instructions to wire them into the unhood fuse panel. Everything should be included i the kit.

as long as everything is hooked up and connected right, you should have no issues with them turning on / off.

I thought your truck came with them. Hell I dont remember much it was like almost 2 years ago

No I haven't Installed the kit yet, had to pay a lot of $$$ for my wife's dental work, I got set back,

Next month! Kit costs $300 on eBay $400 at the dealer.

If you are wanting the fog lights for looks - OK. If you are wanting them for fog lights, they are a waste of money. They only have a 24 watt bulb, vs the 35 watt on earlier models or 45 watt on the Jeep we have. I could barely tell when I turned on the fog lights on my 2011, I had to get out and look just to see if they were really on.

 

The reason for the low light output is that Phillips recently developed a cheap all plastic fog light housing and the 24 watt lamp. Many of the manufacturers are now using them because they are cheaper than the previous units.

I have a 2009 Sierra and installed the OEM fog light kit yesterday. Now my right brake light and right rear turn signal don't work. I checked the fuse and it was ok. Any help wouldd be greatly appreciated.
