OGM1 Map Updates

Question for the smart folks here.

I installed my OGM1 at the end of May and didn't bother messing with the map updates or the SD card until mid June.

So mid June I decided to mess with the SD card, the maps, and ultimately the naviextras toolbox.

I've got my naviextras.com profile, I've successfully registered my device via the SD card in my computer, and have run the various updates that were available using naviextras toolbox.

Here's my question: Has anyone successfully updated their maps via the "free 90-day map upgrade" option?

When l look at my installed maps, I can see they are all dated 2011Q2 - but the naviextras site has maps available for purchase showing 2011Q4. Prices range from $89 to $109 on both naviextras toolbox and web site.

Since I'm within my 90-day "upgrade" window, I would think the 2011Q4 maps would show as "free" or be auto updated via naviextras toolbox?

Anyone else got their maps to update?

Thanks.

p.s. LOVE the OGM1 so far. The latest update with Pandora is cool, but the ability to integrate a WDTV is even better!

My map updates occurred automatically after I updated to the most recent version of the iGO software. The steps are to update the iGO software, put the card back into the radio and start the NAV system. On completion of that process, take the card out of the radio and put it back into the PC card reader. Start Naviextras toolbox and it should display a message that map updates are available and give you the option of doing the updates. The map updates take several hours in some cases, so do them when you have time to waste. If your experience was different, you'll probably need to contact the vendor for help. Also, make sure you have the latest release of the toolbox. A new version that was released the first part of June this year.

It is a latest map guarantee. Not a free update. If you run the tool box program it will check the active map against the data base and apply any fixes or updates. This is all done automatically, it doesn't give you an option to select a map. It shows you have (for example) 2 updates available and then loads them to your card. When in the toolbox it will show "my updates" and a history of what has been downloaded. If the map you have is the latest, then there will be no download available. The latest map is the promise.

If you feel it is not working correctly then you need to contact iGo on-line and ask about the "latest map guarantee" and not a "free map". It is important to use the correct terms. Igo will request specific information from each customer and they can look at their registration, map data, and other info to make sure they have the correct data base.

Yep, I did exactly as you described with updating the card, putting it back in the OGM1, running NAV, then running updates again.

Just to be sure, when you look at your currently installed maps on your SD card, do yours show 2011Q4?

Thanks for the response.

Walt, thanks for the information. I'm going to try contacting iGo/NaviExtras and see what they say. I will be sure to use "latest map guarantee" as I see a LOT of posts in their forums with folks bitchin' about "free maps" not working....

Question for you too - do you have 2011Q4 on your SD card?

Maybe I'm chasing nothing?

Thanks again.
