Onstar reception

I'm going on a camping trip to up in Steep Falls Maine next month. Acres of wildlife is the camp ground.

 

I know when you get up that way cell phone coverage is not to great, so I may not be able to call anyone or use the GPS in my phone in certain areas.

 

My question is, how well will Onstar work in more remote areas?

 

Has anyone been up that way that could speak for the Onstar reception?

 

My service ran out about 2 months back and I don't wanna spend the money if the service isn't too great.

Can't vouch for your location, but I tell you I do reception in the truck when my cell phone cannot in Alaska. No matter where we camped I could always make a call in my truck and anyone who knows anything about Alaska knows that rural is an understatement once you leave the cities. Even after 6+ years of ownership I still maintain my activation and keep some minutes on hand, just in case.

Excellent, that was what I was the answer I was hoping for.

 

Looks like today after I cash my check, I'll be renewing my Onstar subscription.

From what I have read, the OnStar phone is about 5x more powerful (transmit) than a typical cell phone. That's a huge difference.
