2007 Classic, Can I truly run 285's with a crank?

I have researched high and low and everyone says 285's WILL NOT rub on just a torsion crank. I fully agree with my stock offset I'll have no worries at the back of the wheel well but my concern looking is the front valance. I have supplied a photo of my stock setup with 265's, when I picture the 285's in there I feel like this valance may need to be trimmed. Do any of you all have past knowledge you can share? Do the 2006 and 2007 classic's valance sit lower than the 99-02, 03-04?

285/?/17. Maybe I missed it, but no one can answer the question based off of the width only...

i assumed he meant 285/70/17...good point though. i had 285/70/17 with just a crank and no rub.

I ran 285/75/16, basically same size tire as 285/70/17, on my 04 silverado and torsion bars cranked about 1/2 way between stock and full crank. Never had a problem with rubbing. You will be fine!

Mine would be a 285/70/17 but I said 285's because 99-02 would have been a 285/75/16. Thanks for the help everyone.

Seems everyone got the drift...

I ran 33x12.5" tires with factory keys...they rubbed. I also ran 285's too, they rubbed on a max turn in reverse on a slant, like backing out of a sloped driveway...that was it. That was no trimming at all either. 285's fit man. Don't worry.

And yes mine was a 2002 285/75 R16

Thanks for the info bud, I really appreciate it. I just wanted a specific answer especially from someone like you who I know takes their truck offroad quite often. Mine is usually a road queen until harvest season and in the winter here. I'm off camber parking in ditches and bouncing through grain rows during harvest season and then in winter we like to go out and see what trouble we can get into. I just don't want to be folding in fenders, ripping out wheel wells, or tearing off the front valance out there. Sounds like I'll have no worries.

No problem dude, you know that's just my experience...every truck sits different. Mine was a 2002 RCSB step side, I ran 305/70 R16's (pro-comps), two sets of cooper discoverer STT 265/75's, a set of BFG 33x12.5's(rubbed pretty heavily) and I sold it with a set of cooper discoverer STT 285/75's, I don't remember them rubbing very much at all I think I only had keys turned up a little

Bit.

This is with 285's dirty and my bug deflector is broke lol.
