Help getting Front Rotors?

Recommended Posts

Like the title says, I need new front rotors, I got my brake pads already. They're Wagner Ceramic pads. I've had them over 2 years now, once I upgraded to bigger rims and tires, I went ahead and bought some pads. But my pads didn't need changing at the time....So I just kept my pads.

No need to buy new pads, since I've already got some good ones.

The pads on the truck right now are very thin & the rotors are pretty bad also. Pretty sure they're factory rotors on there, could be wrong. My truck has 143K on it or they have been replaced once? :dunno:

I'm thinking about getting these..

Or just get Wagner rotors, they're like $80-90 each though.

Plan on keeping my truck for a while, might trade if the new gens are badass,

Thought & suggestions are needed, thanks guys'.

Find the napa part number and cross reference it with the company who actually makes napa's brakes. I want to say ray bestos but I'm not sure. I did this and got the ultra premium for the same price as the premiums off of eBay. Very happy with them. I've had them on the truck since April with no issues.

USMC, yes most of them are ray-bestos brakes. If the napa "adaptive one" pads are available, Those are the "satisfied" brand brake pads. I have posted other times about this on this forum, do a thorough search.

To make a long post short, Check your local napa or if you are in no rush and want to save some money, log on to www.rockauto.com and find the ray bestos advanced technology pads and rotors. Either way, ray bestos advanced technology are excellent! Great stopping power, basically no noise or dust and they last a very long time, all at a good price compared to some other brands.

I personally would stay away from Napa... I had to replace pads and rotors about 6 months ago and searched all over for an american made brand. (not sure if the GM OEM or the AC Delco ones are or not but I also was looking to save money which may have been my first mistake).

I ended up going to Napa and was told that they had nothing US made so I settled on what they had (Chinese) and told them to give me the best ones they had out of all of their quality levels. Well they are junk to say the least. They squeak like crazy even with stop squeal on them and the castings for the pads were too big to fit into the caliper housing. I had to grind the casting to make it fit. I don't know about you but if I am buying thier "top of the line OEM quality parts", I should not have to modify them to make them fit....

Problems do come up, no mass produced product is ever perfect. You should have returned the pads if they were too big. That is another reason to use Napa,They usually have better customer service and a very good return/warranty policy. I knowThe Napa ultra premium rotors have an excellent life time warranty, even against warpage and wear.

I agree with you to an extent except that by the time I realized that the casting was too big for the housing, the front wheels were off my truck and the brakes were in pieces so driving back to the Napa store really wasn't an option.

All you would have had to do was call Napa and explain what happened and what the situation was, they would have sent a delievery driver out asap, with the right pads, for free. My local napa has done this for me twice, advance auto and autozone only do this for "commerical account customers".

Stinsan: Those are some expensive rotors! Let us know how you like them after you have driven with them for a while.

Wasn't too expensive about $150. Changed them today with my pads & also had to change my driver side wheel bearing, that thing was shot.
