I was curious if anyone has done this or knows if an aftermarket fog light/driving light would fit in place of the factory fog lights on a 2010 SIlverado with minimal modification and ability to use the factory switch, the fogs I currently have seem to be getting moisture in them and are fogging up, my truck did not come with them but I did purchase the GM fog light kit that replaced the end caps etc... the fogs look good on the truck but with them not really being much use(brightness) I wanted to upgrade these with an either square or round aftermarket fog light(i.e PIAA, Westin, Recon LED lighting) If anyone knows or can give me some insight I would greatly appreciate it,

You may actually be able to fix your moisture problem easily! Housings can be baked in the oven or heated with a heatgun ( with the exception of tail lights) to make the sealant pliable. Once the unit is heated up just get some small clamps and clamp the lens back on, then re-heat to seal it all off!

If you want to tackle this, just heat your oven up to 215, and put the housings in there for 10-15 min. this will soften the sealant then clamp everything off, and put them back in the oven for another 10 min and allow to cool ( with the clamps still on). That should solve your issue!

Reseal as stated above or replace as you see fit however just a side bar comment, fog lights aren't meant to be bright. There "usefullness" is in fog. If they were brighter than they currently are they would be useless in fog condition since the white light would be reflected off the white fog and you would be virtually blinded. The lower intensity, angle mounted and (dependent on model) off-whiteish color helps cut through the fog and provide light for driving without as much reflection off the fog. All the time I see people that drive around in fog with highbeams on and I just can't fathem how they don't run off the road or hit something/someone.

Sorry not trying to rant on you. I just remember the last thread that included fog lights and their purpose and it turned ugly fast.

If they have the 24 watt 5202 or Phillips PSX24W round bulb, then yes they are useless like my 2011 Sierra. If they have the 45 watt halogen lamp then they should be fine, maybe they are misadjusted.

there's the pricey route, i chose to install the new piaa 3.5" LED driving and fog lights in mine, they're two round fogs that fit perfectly in the recess where the factory light is. i have one set of driving and one set of fog its far better than any HID i've ever run and draws virtually no power.
