OGM1 Install Problems

Just installed the OGM1 yesterday and have a few major problems. After putting everything back together I couldn't get the Navigation/Maps to work. When you click on Nav it just says "file path does not exist" I then hit Browse and clicked on the bottom file (can't remember what is said) and it seemed to start loading iGO and the default map came up and it said searching for GPS. About 15 seconds after that happened the entire unit went black. Now all it does is turn on for 4 or 5 secs (the backlight for the buttons come on but the screen is still black) then everything shuts off again. It just continually repeats this process no matter how long the truck is on. I know I have power because I can see it turn on but it just keeps shutting off. Is this a software or hardware problem?

Thanks for the help!

Hey, I experienced something similar when I recently installed my ogm1. I had to do the same as you and select the nav file. Then the nav took forever to load and when it didi there was no signal strength. It also randomly shut down and restarted like yours. It was like the whole unit was bogging down because even the seek on the radio worked super slow and choppy. I wish I could tell you how I fixed it but it just went away on it's own and now the unit works amazingly. I would recommend doing the firmware and map update first and make sure you follow the directions on the adc site to do so. Other than that call up walt, he's the man.

Very similar to what happened to me last year with my first 2 OGM1 units. First one did it right away and the second did it after 2-3 months. Supposedly, it was a hardware problem in that the face plate was so sensitive that if it was installed with just the slightest twist it would be like holding the buttons down constantly. With my third unit, they said they fixed it with a reinforcement bracket and I havent had a problem since.

If you just got a new unit it shouldnt have this problem since it was fixed but I suppose you never know. I assume you are already in contact with whoever you bought it from (Walt?) but if not, one thing to try is to unscrew the unit from the dash and see if the problem goes away because you have removed the "twist", although with mine old ones, even that wouldn't correct it after a while because the faceplate was permanently warped.
