Leveling Kit

Going to be installing my Rough Country Leveling kit tomorrow, any advice to help me get it done a little quicker? When I try to get the truck back into torque specs, what should I put them to? (Don't really know if I worded that correctly!)

Did anyone else use this video? At the 2:40 mark the bolt looks awful close to the rod above it, does that geometry change once you are finished? Does anyone know the torque specs?

Thanks for posting that video!

I am unsure of the torque specs from the factory.

This is all from my Zone 2'' Level Kit instructions:

  1. All 7/16'' bolts - 45 ft lbs.
  2. Upper Strut Mount - 40 ft. lbs.
  3. Upper Ball Joint - 40 ft lbs.
  4. Steering Knuckle Factory nut - 44 ft. lbs.
  5. Sway bar bushings should be tightened until they start to swell.

I know they are different leveling kits, but did you install yours like the video, or did you follow the instructions? The instructions given seem like there is a lot more 'work' than the video shows.

40lbs sounds in the right ballpark. I think i did all mine to 37 lbs if the RC instructions say that too. I also did mine exactly as the video shows above. The toughest part is getting the spacer in. You may need to pry the shock up a bit as the video shows, but it should be fairly easy. An extra person to help never hurts either. Biggest thing is to re-torque everything after the first 500 miles, especially the spacer bolts. Mine did need some tightening. Doesn't hurt to check every 1,000 miles after that too. ...and the realignment...don't forget that either.

I installed mine by that video. Its fairly straight forward. Don't undo any of the upper stuff. No need. Just follow that video and your golden

Thanks everyone. That seems really easy compared to the instructions. I am going to do it that way so it will be easier and I can get done quicker!

Well it is on and sitting next to my brothers truck, 2011 Extended Cab Z71 4x4 where mine is a 2009 Crew Cab LS 4x4, there is a noticeable difference. He is going to be ordering the kit and we will do his truck soon. Can't wait, never thought I'd say this, to buy tires that will look more appropriate.

I will get some pics once my camera gets back from Nikon. Hopefully soon cause my boy's first birthday is a week from today! Once I get it back I will take some pics and load them up. Now I need to decide what rims and tires I want to buy next spring.
