I changed to 20's and I'm running a 275/55R20. I havent had a spare in 4 years. I am going to get a junkyard winch, tools and wheel just need to know what tire to get.

Pretty sure ALL the 1500's come wit ha 17" wheel size spare tire. Would be nice to have a matching spare and wheel though. Seems that no matter what tire wheel combination is on the truck, you are stuck wit ha Good Year and 17" steel wheel.

I had a 16" spare with a 235/75R16. But I have chaned tired size and will most likey go to a 17" because i want to do the 05+ front brakes. I can get a steel wheel cheap the tire size is what i dont know

My buddies 05 truck came with 245/70/17 spare tire. Find a 17 inch tire that is about the same circumferance as your 20 in tire. Keep the width to a max of 265.

not to jack the thread but i have 285's and a 265 spare. i have had mixed answers on whether i can use it or not. anyone know?

A 265/70-17 is only about 1/4" smaller in diameter than a 275/55-20. You should be able to use it with no problem, as the ABS/traction control/stabilitrac circuitry will absorb that small a difference in rotational speed. When it comes to the differential, however, it is best to use the spare on the front when you have that choice.

Depends on what your 285 tire's aspect ratio is. 285/?/?

Your regular tires are just over an inch bigger than the spare. I know a few people who run 285's and carry a 275 or 285 spare in the bed. I've ran spares with about that much difference with no problems. It's up to you.
