Oil pressure issues '04 5.3L

Hey guys just about a week and a half ago the oil pressure on my Tahoe shot up to the 80 mark when RPMs are over 1500. It never used to go this high even when at 4k while passing someone on our two lane highway. Now it sits at 65 lbs when below 1500 and anywhere from 75-80 from 1500 on up. Is this a gauge cluster issue or a motor problem? Any help would be great.

kind of sounds like the gauge cluster stepper motor

thanks for the input guys! I'll be in denver next week so I may run it by somewhere that can check it for me. I need a new Cluster anyway so maybe it's time to change it out.

Where did you get your cluster from? I see there are lots of places just curious as to who recommends who.

I got the cluster itself from a salvage yard, i got a standard 2500 HD gauge from a 6.0 4 speed . the one i used is pickup salvage. google them they ship. but they are local to me. and i got the overlay from gmgaugeguy.com. he is a member on silveradoss.com. it was about $100. I think $115 after shipping

Thanks man I am going to call him up and get this thing sent in for repair. I think im going to do the White LED upgrade while it's there since these things are notorious for the back lights going out also.

He recommended the light blue to me. He said it makes the needles pop. I was thinking white myself. I spent a while on the phone with him. But that was with the SS face

Could be a sending unit

+1

Check the sending unit first. Going to be cheaper than putting a cluster in it first, then change the sending unit.

Well my cluster has other issues too so the 160 plus shipping isn't a bad start anyway. And worse case I'll move to the sending unit next. Thanks for all the help gents!!
