level kit,and bump stops

Hey all!

I have a '09 2500 hd xcab long box with the 92k gvw trailer package,no plow option. I installed a set of sumo springs insted of air bags to beef-up the rear susp. They raised my rear empty height a inch and a half and thats what the Co.said they would do, That is fine by me. Now I would like to level the frt. by reindexing the TB's with a new set of leveling keys. Some questions. These GM900 trucks

weather 2500 or 3500 hd's are designed by the factory to ride on the factory bump stops to improve

the ride. And I really like the way it rides and handles now and want to know what is the best way/kit

to use to level my truck about 1 1/2 in.and keep the good factory ride????

Thanks in advance Dave :chevy::cheers:

they are designed to ride on or just about on the bottom bump stops. its a two stage bumpstop with the thicker piece being softer and eventually getting down to the hard stopping part.... any leveling kit will stiffen up the front end of your truck with the torsion bar suspension... it's just a matter of finding a happy medium between leveled and ride quality. full level=lesser ride quality

thanx Ruggedlife I thougnt that they were a two stage thing and was looking to see if a kit would have parts to re locate them so they just touch the 1st stage after the level kit install??????

Well thanks for the reply Dave

Why have springs if they are going to ride on the bump stops? Why have shocks as well?. Is this just on the HD models?

its hard to explain unless you can get under one and look at it. its got a 1"-2" section that is a softer compound. that will give you a softer ride and start stopping the suspension, if you hit something hard enough it will get to the second piece that is firm and will stop the suspension travel. you have springs so it doesn't ride like a hay wagon. and you have shocks to dampen the spring from making it ride like an old cadillac with blown out air suspension. it's not fully necessary to relocate the bump stop it will just have some more upward travel. not that big of an issue really. the stiffer suspension comes from the added tension on the torsion bar. and yes this is on the HD models
