silverado3500 Posted January 9, 2003 Posted January 9, 2003 Installed 1 ton leaf springs on another Silverado 1500 and magically the Launch shudder disappeared. These springs are a good solution to a recurring problem, and not only do they solve that problem, they are a big improvement as far as strength goes. These new springs ride a lot softer than previous generation trucks (they are designed to perform like a progressive rate coil spring and ride like a cadillac as such!!! ) Only downside is that they are a pain in the a$$ to install as you have to drop the fuel tank to have the room to remove the front spring hanger bolt. Other wise the installation is very straight forward. The other thing to consider is that the springs will raise the rear of the truck slightly. This is not an issue on the 4x4s as you just remove the blocks, but on a 2wd that is something that must be considered. In my case I did a combination of 3" lift spindles and 1" coil spring spacers on the front and the 1 ton springs with the 2" blocks from a Z71 for the rear, and the result is superb!
