help! no shift indicator lights in D,2, or 1

I have a 97 z71 w/ 4L60E transmission. I pulled the transmission and rebuilt it last week (had no TCC lock up and I had ruled out electrical and valve body problems). Anyway, the transmission does fine now, but I have no indicator lights on the dash anymore for forward gears (I do for 'P', 'R' and 'N'.) I did not pull the white tab out of the shift cable, so I feel like that should still be in adjustment. Anyone seen this or have any idea on what the problem is? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

(By the way, I'm new here...looks like a great site!)

hmmm i have a cluster from a 96 torn apart on my workbench right now and it has a bulb for each individual gear posiston (prnod321)  also has a housing between the bulbs and the display so that the light does not pass through anything else   maybe some of your bulbs are burnt out ??

The only way to repair burnt out bulbs on these looks like is to get another circuit board that goes inside the cluster its about 3.5 inches by 3 inches the speedometer plugs into it

ah ha...just went out and checked and 1 more piece of information! I also now have NO reverse lights.

So..no forward gear dask indicator lights and no reverse lights. Sound like an adjustment or a switch, or what???

i am having the same problem with a 2000 old body tahoe 5.7L

it occurred after having spent a few nights in the mud and water.

sometimes the lights are on and sometimes off and sometimes on and sometimes they flicker.

let me know what you find out   [email protected]

what you have is a bad switch on the trans . when you unplugged the switch on the side of the trans was it hard to unplug? if so it most likely broke the contacts inside the switch. replace the switch and all will be well.  :flag:
