We live in Franklin, Williamson County. Public schools are great, highly regarded. But land is expensive. I have seen residential land go for $1M per acre. I haven't looked at acreage in 5 years (gave up dream of mini farm), but our 2800 sq st house on exactly an acre went for $405000 5 years ago. Nice, quiet, out of city limits subdivision.

However, we have great interstate system that is well-maintained in Tennessee. Other states, not so much. Williamson County also has easy access to I-40, I-65, and I-24. Also, State Highway 840 is a 4 lane road completed on Nov 2nd, and bypasses Nashville completely, running through Williamson County.

I grew up in West Tennessee, which is a bit flatter with more crop land, hunting, and duck wetlands. However, unemployment is around 10% in many counties. But I could take the $405000 I used to buy a house, and buy 100 acres or more, probably with a house. At least the last time I looked.

Having lived in West TN for 24 years, Middle TN for 16 years, I think I'd like East TN more. Smoky Mountains, rural, etc. That area just calls my soul. However, the in-laws and sister-in-law is here in Middle TN, so I've learned to love it.

Lots of opportunity in Nashville area. Many colleges, universities, and trade schools. Many large hospitals, one academic hospital (Vanderbilt), two children's hospitals, 3 Level I Neonatal ICU's, pro football/hockey, Nashville SuperSpeedway, AAA baseball, Parthenon, and all of Music City's delights. Lots of industrial parts of town, as well as engineering, architectural, and professional opportunities. I can almost see Nissan's headquarters (BEAUTIFUL building) from my home, and Nissan's Smyrna plant is about 30 min away. Even with all that, farming is still alive and well, too.

I guess I love my home state.

This no different to what Ed Roth was doing in the 60's. Art is art. There is no "ugly" or "bad" art. I just don't understand why people care enough about an inanimate object to form an emotional feeling about it. Personally, I wouldn't do what the owner of the car had done. It would be nice though to have the money to be able to do that to a new vehicle.
