Back-up Camera

After receiving my new truck in Feb of this year, I purchased and installed the OGM1 and back-up camera/bezel combination. The camera system worked perfectly for the summer months but, lately I am noticing a fog-like haze when backing up. I, initially thought it was merely the lens getting wet and dirty from rain and road spray but the haze persists regardless of whether the lens is clean or not. In fact, it seems to be getting worse. It is bad enough in the daylight but night backing is useless.

The system was installed in dry weather (and inside a garage) so am certain moisture was not introduced during this process. It was also installed as per instructions and the lens and included bezel seemed to be watertight (although, because I presumed it was water-sealed as it is located in a potentially wet environment, I did not inspect it too closely in that respect).

Not being an expert in this area, I suspect the issue is with the lens and not the sensor as I can still see an image, albeit blurry, on the screen and I would expect, if it was the sensor, that no image would be visible.

Before I contact the seller, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?

Dont know about those cameras but on commercial fishing boats we get bullet proof cameras to watch all are movements and some of them get blurry and we have to replace them . They are meant for the sea to so for harsh environments. I am sure someone will pipe up and tell you whats up

Where did you get the camera from? I was definitely contact them and see what they have to say, sounds like it is moisture getting inside the lens or something (kind of like they do when the seal in a headlight goes).

same as above. Sounds like the camera isn't sealed properly. I have the factory camera & have had no issues at all in 2 years.

First time back to the forum since the beginning of this thread, coincidently, to add an update.

The OGM1 unit (and camera) was purchased from Walt at ADC. After my initial post here, I contacted Walt and advised him of the issue with the camera.

I will say, that when I purchased the package, Walt was extremely helpful and I was very impressed with him and his customer relations. Other customers have echoed my sentiments on this forum as well.

Upon being notified of the problem I had encountered, Walt, without hesitation and without even asking any questions or intimating it was not his problem, immediately initiated the process for me to get a replacement camera at no cost to me. It is currently being shipped to my home.

Kudos to Walt and ADC. I have nothing but good things to say and suggest if every vendor had the integrity and commitment that Walt has, the planet would be a far better place. Highly recommended!

Does anyone know of a high quality replacement camera that will fit in the GM bezel? The one I have has a poor quality image, won't come on in cold weather and is pretty much useless. I've looked online and found Panasonic and Pioneer cameras, just not sure which size I need to fit in the GM bezel properly.
