Anyone have an idea on cause of this

I have an 04 sierra 4x4 xtended cab with the 5.3. When driving on the interstate with the cruise on, it seems to cut out/hesitate occasionally. It also does it with the cruise off if I am holding a steady speed. It is barely noticeable, as in, it's a half second hiccup and it's done, but it freaks me out every time it does it. Never notice anything like it any other time. Was wondering if a plug wire could be breaking down or something of that sort. Truck has 58,000 miles on it.

Not on a 2004.

 

OP, I wouldn't think plug wires would be bad yet but you do have low miles for a 2004. I'd just visually inspect them to make sure they're not being melted by the manifolds or anything, though that should set a code if it happened.

my 05 did it bad only after the car wash.. It was 2 bad coil packs.

Not a problem! I have the same issue when I'm using Tapatalk. Today I'm holding the desk down though so I can see everything again. ;)

I had two clogged fuel injectors on my 2000, and it acted in a similar manner.

Sounds like you need a test drive with a scan tool to catch it acting up. Could be all sorts of things.
