Protecting Aluminum Rims Winter/Salt

Every gm truck aluminum rim I've seen from the 90s and onward are badly corroded by the salt they throw down in the roads in winter. It doesn't take more than 1 or 2 winters to see it happen either!

Is there anything to protect against this other than having dedicated steel rims? I'm wondering if spraying with some kid of oil or dry silicon or something may help???

I spray my bare aluminum wheels (they are not even clearcoated) with white lithium grease. They will look like crap all Winter as they get dirty and stuff sticks to them but when I pressure wash them off in the Spring they will look as good as ever.

Apply once in fall? Or several times through winter?

I do it in the fall and spring usually
