Another Tire Size Question

I recently purchased a 2010 2500. It has 20" wheels currently on it. I originally thought I would sell the 20" wheels and get a set of stock 17" wheels. But, the 20" wheels are starting to grow on me. If I keep the 20" wheels, is there a good all terrain tire size that closely matches the stock size of 265/70R17? I've searched the internet and get overwhelmed quick looking for this. Hoping someone here has already been through this. Thanks!

It currently has 305/55 on it.

I bet those 305/55/20's look great! I'd stay with that size, as long as you don't have any rubbing issues. However, if you're wanting to go smaller...you could go with a 275/60/20, which is about the same height as your current tires, but not as wide...or you could step down to a 275/55/20, which is the stock size on a 1500 with factory 20" rims. Is there a reason you're wanting to go with a smaller (close to stock) tire size?

For a size close to the 265/70R17 go with a 275/55R20 in an all terrain tire. I run a 275/55R20 and my spare is a 265/70R17

Yeh, I really like the look, but my main reason for wanting to go closer to stock is for fuel mileage. We also plan on one day getting a travel trailer and I'm sure it would be better when pulling that.

Well the stock tire size on a new 2500HD that comes with factory 20's is a LT265/60/20E

That's just under an inch taller than what came stock on this truck, so that shouldn't be too bad.

Roger that. And IMO, if your 305's still have good tread, I'd run them until they're shot, because you probably won't notice much of a gain in the MPG department.....definately not enough to justify the cost of new tires if your current ones are still in good shape.
