Could I fit a 2500hd 6.0 exhaust?

Because I dropped in a 6.0, could I fit the piping from manifolds back off of a 6.0 2500hd? I am running the 4.8/5.3 exhaust still. I like that the 2500 system is dual back to the muffler and I want to do a DI/DO Magnaflow or the MBRP 6.0 2500HD system. Aren't the ecsb trucks the same wheel base for the 1500 and 2500hd

The wheel base is the same, but I believe the frames are different. A 1500HD or 2500(non HD) has the same frame as a 1500 (I think), but has the 6.0. I also agree with kstruckcountry....a VortecMax system should work too.

1500HD and 2500 do not share the same chassis as any half ton. They utilize the same 8" channel for the rails up to where it necks over the rear end as the 2500HD does. The 2500HD accomplishes it's higher stance by having the cab mounts welded on 2" higher on the frame in the front. Then where the chassis goes over the rear diff the 2500HD maintains 8" channel whereas the 2500 and 1500HD neck down to 6" channel. Half ton rails are 7" channel under the cab IIRC...... or maybe just 6". I have never personally measured a half ton so if someone wants to do the liberty, go nuts. I have however busted out the tape on my 1500HD, 2500 light duty and a 2500HD to verify what is the same and what is not.

I don't believe the crossmember placement up front or the design is the same as a regular half ton thus the head pipes would probably hit. I know because trying to use the VortecMax/SilveradoSS/05-07 Denali truck exhaust on a 1500HD doesn't fit very well and hits the transmission as well as some crossmembers and needs modification. That comes into play with guys trying to buy long tubes from outfits like ARH who design their stuff for half tons.

That said any of the trucks I mentioned in the half ton category with 6 liters have the 2.75" dual headpipe arrangement and fit fine in a half ton chassis. If you are trying to find something in an autowrecker finding a Denali, SS, Vmax, or Vortec HO is not going to be as easy as a 1500HD/2500LD or 2500HD/3500HD.

It will probably be able to fit if you are willing to modify one though.

Do you want it to be a stock style exhaust..Why dont you just design your own,

Dual 2 1/2" back to an X-pipe then 2 mufflers of your choice and two tailpipes out wherever you choose.. With or without the cats..

Thats what I would do, but Ide run the DI/DO Magnaflow for a convenience of fewer parts and because I like Magnaflow. Ide also probably run a little bit smaller pipe than 2.5", maybe like 2.25" just to keep the scavenging abuility of the system fairly efficient.

I will do an x up stream. I like MBRP and want to keep using them

Sooo I have the money to play around with this. So if it doesn't work no big deal. If I can't get what I need at a salvage yard, where could I find the system from manifolds to muffler?

Rock Auto carries most of the pieces for the entire exhaust system. Granted, it will cost more, but you can piece it together if you got into a bind.

I checked there. They have the stuff from dynomax to replace the stock with their stuff.

Is the piping the same size between an HD and a VMax? Because the hangar locations can be moved with a grinder and welder.

That should answer your question

Looking like I'll have to buy the mbrp system and have the exhaust shop cut the y pipe and and make the piping to fit the mufflers

My main thing is I want the mufflers and rear exhaust from MBRP.
