Traction control

Recommended Posts

traction control light came on today. 37 degrees and perfectly dry roads. Truck has 40,000/2010 silverado/4 wheel drive/5.3.

Is this a normal thing for the mileage. If the traction control requires service; what is done? Thanks in advance to all

Read the owners manual for this vehicle.

My "trac control" indicator lights up anytime a rear wheel looses traction on my C1500, then goes back off when the rear "G80" unit locks.

I read the manual..mine also lights up when losing traction...this stays on all the time now and sends a message across the dash that service is needed for traction control

There is a fault with the system. There is no "service" to be done, simply repairing or replacing parts is what that message indicates.

Ok, sorry. I missed the part about a message being displayed saying "SERVICE is needed for traction control system".

Good luck.... :happysad:

Gets better....read the manual after driving to work...about 6 miles...traction light and message still on dash. Manual said to turn the wheel fully to 9 o'clock and then to 3 o'clock and then shut down...start up after 15 seconds or 15 minutes but I let it sit for 8 hours. Started it up and drove the 6 miles home and no traction light on or message...like it never happened...will the codes still be there or was there a glitch that was cleared by doing the manual directions. ?

On a side note...I hate all this technology crap. Anything more than a PCV valve is a waste. My 2 cents.

terzmo,

As “govtech4” has mentioned, the code should be stored. I would still encourage you to consult with a certified technician for an inspection.

If you need assistance locating a technician near you, please PM me your zip code for a listing.

after getting the lights to go out and everything looked good, drove it a few miles..left turn..lights/message back on...took it to the dealer and after 2 hours of troubleshooting wires,as they said, found out a sensor is intermittent and will cost 400 plus to fix....4000 miles past the bumper to bumper warranty.
