Higher Mileage Tune/Mods

Whenever I get back home I hope to do some more mods to my '06 Sierra Z71. I've been wanting to do a Bllackbear tune for a few years, but have to wonder if it is wise now that my truck is getting up there in mileage (160k right now, obviously there won't be much more put on it in the coming months).

Besides the tune, I'm thinking about leveling it out, and I need to replace the cheap Monroe shocks I put on it a couple of years ago (factory shocks had @120k, I was bored and broke [a dangerous combination], so I got a "buy one get one" rebate special). Shortly after I level it I also hope to put some 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers or something similar on it.

Any suggestions, comments, or concerns? Is tuning an engine that is close to 200,000 miles worth it? A guy I know from the VFW has a '99 Silverado with the original 5.3L and his is over 300,000 miles now.

I had a little over 100k when I did mine. My aggressive tune I have now was done on a 33k mile 6.0 on the stock 4L60E with 113k

i personally wouldnt want to spend any money on a truck with 160k on it. save the money for parts that wear out or parts that need to be replaced. i wouldnt want to put a leveling kit on a front end with 160k on it, there probably is something that is close to being shot anyway, no reason to speed it up.

my truck has about 135k on it, its been leveled and tunes since 60 or 70k but i know im not putting another dime into it unless something needs replacing

I'm with KMG... I leveled my GMT900 at 97K miles and blew both outer CV boot covers within a week, had to pretty much redo the whole job.

Are you going to keep the truck for a long time? Yes some mods can bring out issues with the truck, but IMO that's not a bad thing, they're things you will have to take care of anyways.
