6.2 throttle response

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've had my '12 Sierra SLT NHT for about a year now and love it so far but.... I can't seem to get over how lazy the throttle response is. Seems like I need to literally mash the pedal to get it to downshift and accelerate. I know there is torque management but its not so bad from a stop, more when rolling on the throttle for a pass or an on ramp. Engine is very strong, and I don't think there's a problem, just seems like the shift points are off. I've never had to use so much pedal in any other vehicle (under normal driving. Lol) Dealer says there are no programming updates and that its normal (of course) Anyone notice this or have any ideas? Thanks!

Lol. Believe me, I have no problem pushing the pedal! I would definitely consider a tune if it wouldn't void my warranty and I knew where to get one in my area

Thanks 540, I'll look into it. So apparently others have noticed this too? Maybe not a problem or maybe some don't notice, but having owned/built several performance engines, just seems very neutered for a 405hp motor unless I floor it!

Thanks again. Is there a thread on this with some more info? I have questions of course but I'm guessing its been covered already. I'll keep searching

Thanks Fred. I couldn't seem to get the link to paste off of eBay Mobile. SLT, the LS7 throttle body and a tune will bring your 6.2 to life.

Thanks for the info guys. Throttle body should be easy enough, I'll be looking into where to get a tune

I've been looking into this recently too, here is a link to one on amazon for a little cheaper. Im not a fan of ebay. http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-217-3153-Service-Injection-Throttle/dp/B001NZZ9K2/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1363481991&sr=1-1&keywords=ac+delco+217+3153 I'm gonna order this tonight and see how it works on our trucks. Ill make a thread with pics once it comes.

Just a heads up this will not work with the stock intake tube. You need the MIT or any other cold air intake, the stock tube does not have enough clearance for the TPS.

That would be great Dave! I'll be anxiously awaiting your results! Just read your edit. Thanks for the heads up

Mine has decent response everywhere except for when I stomp it from a start. Takes a few seconds to respond, but man does it take off once it does!
