Twin Turbo V6 in the works

Most people that buy an EB do it for the tow capacity and power and well opt for the 3.55 or 3.73 ratio and not the gas saving 3.15

That's exactly why people should be buying one but lots got sucked in by the great mpg advertising.

Ya know if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't.

Towing ability and power Ford done good.....mpg is just average.

Anybody comparing the mpg of a 5.3L to mpg of an Ecoboost without factoring in power and ability just makes me laugh.

Compare it to the big V8s of all manufactures mpg and it's all of a sudden a bit better story....cause it performs as good or better than the Ford 6.2....Chev 6.2....Dodge....Toyota

Then get back to me.

My VMax sucks more gas unloaded, about the same towing, and doesn't do as good a job or is as much fun to drive, even after $1000+ of mods.

Did you think buying a 6 litre v8 would be good on fuel???

All this fuss over fuel economy and towing performance in half ton 4x4 truck is giving me cancer. They are trucks. If you want good gas mileage buy a smart car.

My 6 liter V8 gets 12 MPG on a good day. I didn't buy it for mileage. I bought it for fun. And 400 HP sure makes me Grin when I mash the GO pedal

Wow....

400hp in the old 4 speed didn't really amaze me,tho I really think pre 6.0L responded better to mods.

You guys are all yipping about Ecoboost not getting great mpg but then say your high hp V8s get s..t for mpg.

I'd bet a dollar the Ecoboost would take most stock.

It sure would my VMax.

When we have to read ignorant post as yours, most tend to not care.

Coming from a 4.8 to the 6.0 and 400 HP makes me smile. I can pull 20 MPG with the 6.0 if I drive sensibly and hold cruise at 55 MPH

Why is it most here yacking have no clue,no personal experience with twin turbos in a truck?

That's what this topic is about....did you forget?

Maybe learn to type too.

Only guys who can automatically dismiss a twin turbo in a truck are the V8 purists who cannot live without the rumble.

Cause on performance it's as good or better than any 1/2 ton V8.

I had an ecoboost spool up and pass me on the freeway while I was doing 75. They have power. I love the sound of a V8, but to tow if GM puts this TT 3.6 in a half ton, and it does good, Then good for them. My tuck tows occasionally(once a month at most) and its a daily driver for now and a toy when I get a new DD

LOL great thinking on ur part, a 6 litre v8 4x4 truck would deff raise some red flags in the mpg part of my brain...and yes. times do change. JUST like fords engine designs

the ecoboost with a livernois tune is ok, maybe touch high 13's in the 1/4. 6.2 chevy is faster wit a good tune so are tundra's. i have a friend that picked up an ecoboost, it doesnt get very good fuel economy towing. a little better unloaded but not by much.

i may have not owned an eco boost, but i have experience with twin turbos. in fact much bigger turbos than youll find on any eco boost, i love watching eco boosts get buried in black smoke. eco boost owners think they drive lambo's its funny. it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside when guys get cocky in a stock half ton.

im here to tell you, a tuned chevy 6.2 is king of the half tons. maybe not in fuel economy but everyting else, they are super fast from a roll. and they get up and go from a dig as well. my buddy has a bone stock one, from a roll it will keep up to my middle tune which is around 480rwhp 850tq..pretty damn good. from a dig boosted launch on my 3/5 tune, i blow him outta the water out of the hole. he stays even about 3 lengths back. not one other half ton out there that can do that.

im in no way bashing forced induction trucks from factory, it is the way of the future. i know the eco boost can make power, ive played with lots of them. they are a cool design, you are amongst a pile of chevy fans bud. probly not the best place to start sticking up for a 6 cylinder ford half ton :banghead: .... nothing will change the fact that an eco boost will never sound as cool as a chevy v8. it will still sound like a cute little car motor :nopity:

There you go you pretty much agreed with everything I have said...

And it's not a Ford twin turbo fan you dealing with,it's a twin turbo fan period.

Can't wait for Chev and Dodge to come out with them so there is more to choose from.

Everyone on any of these forums get their shorts in a knot at the mere mention of another brands truck actually maybe being good...

The thread was about twin turbos in a truck....not brands

If it upsets people that I actually own one and like it....too bad

At least I'm giving an honest opinion between my two trucks .

Instead of some of the babyish bs I'm reading.

I guess you can only feed the troll for so long, if Chevy does turbo an engine, make it a v8 and show ford what they are capable of, though that's done daily.....

A forced motor is going to make power down low, since that's the idea. You can either rev a motor, or rev up a turbo or supercharger. Either way, something is spinning up! My "concern" w/ the EB is long term durability, regardless of Ford's infomercials. Time will tell...

I'd be interested in your honest opinion on the "rest" of the truck, motors aside.

At 60k kms I have had one TSB....replace turbo actuators

Nothing else besides routine maintanence.

I just went by my bumper to bumper warranty limit and could find nothing to get fixed.

Fit and finish better than my 07 Chev, more solid feel...leather seems to be holding up very well to me and the hound.

Miss the auto trac feature of the Chev....I guess the 13 Fords have it now.

Like the 4x4 system of the Chev more,Fords clunks ,chatters then pops hubs in....especially if not used in a while.

Interior room on all these new trucks with the center console isn't great,I don't know how big guys do it.

Something to be said for steering column shifter...

Ford could have done a much better job of interior storage, heck even exterior storage.

Still the basics there, nothing new in or out.

The Dodge has this one hands down....some people might not like the Ram box but at least it's an option.

Oh and 20" 55 series tires on an off road package, then putting a street tire on too....Yeesh

First thing I changed...

Had to put air bags on the VMax to avoid sag...none required with the Ford.

Love heated seats,Chev you can adjust back,bum,or both,Ford you can't...wish I could.

Chev supposed to have heated cloth seats.....why did it take so long for any truck to have em....Kia's have had em for years...

So far no surprises...it's a truck and gets used as one...

And yes long term who knows but I think it's the way of future...if they could just get em to sound better
