Major Fuel Issues

First post here, needing advice.

 

I have a Silverado 2500HD with a 6.0L and 116,000 miles on it. 5spd manual trans.

 

Was returning from long road trip and was going up a hill with 1500 pounds of weights in the back of the truck when there was a massive drop in power. The truck would not maintain idle but since I was just a few miles from home, I limped her to my driveway.

 

Have had intermittent codes on lean fuel mix and MAF sensor codes that once cleared would return here and there. One code popped up about 400 miles out but I did not check it until home.

 

After arriving home, it would not start. Codes that popped up, p0174, p071, p0172, p1514, and p101.

 

Fuel pressure regulator had no gas in vacuum line and no loose wires on the throttle body plug. Fuel pressure was non-existent. Replaced fuel pump and fuel filter. It took multiple tries to get the truck to restart after the pump replacement. Seemed to have no gas in the fuel system. After removing the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, the pump kicked in and fuel pressure returned.

 

BUT the it will not idle and there is a loud pinging as if valve issue. There are no codes present after a few p0300 codes during the start up. Kept it running for nearly 10 minutes with no codes showing.

 

Should I begin throwing parts at the problem by replacing the MAF and the fuel pressure regulator? Or is there another suggestion that would help?

I would guess at the fuel the fuel pressure regulator....but it is a SWAG ( sophisticated wild ass guess). Since you have the new fuel pump, which is where I initially thought was the problem as I started reading your post, and it is throwing multlple codes, I think I would spend the $$$$$ and take it to a shop for diagnosis. Having been in similar situations, you could easily throw lots of parts at it, and lots of $$$$$$, and still not solve the problem.

Is there fuel pressure now that the new pump was installed?

I would clean the MAF with some MAF cleaner (aerosoled rubbing alcohol). You said you were able to keep it running for 10 minutes. How did it run? Was it still misfiring or did it run smooth?
