zerks on 2003 Silverado 1500HD

Can someone please tell me the locations of all the grease fittings (zerks) on my 2003 Silverado 1500 HD, and what type of grease to use? How often should these be checked or refilled? Is this in the service manual... I didn't see it?

Thank you.

For some reason I seem to remember there being 14 maybe? But this is what I was able to dig up on the internet. Make sure you get the upper portion of the pitman arms? Hard to get to I believe?

If you have a drive shaft with a zerk on the u-joint, be sure to grease it too.

1 - Drivers side, Upper ball joint

2 - Drivers side, Outer tie-rod end

3 - Drivers side, Lower ball joint

4 - Drivers side, Inner tie-rod end

5 - Drivers side, Pitman arm (at relay rod)

6 - Passengers side, Idler arm (at relay rod)

7 - Passengers side, Upper end of idler arm mount

6 - Passengers side, Idler arm (at relay rod)

8 - Passengers side, Inner tie-rod end

9 - Passengers side, Lower ball joint

10 - Passengers side, Outer tie-rod end

11 - Passengers side, Upper ball joint

I wanna say NLGI 2 ep grease the stuff I use is blue... I'm not positive, have to check.

Used to use this white lithium stuff, but everytime I picked the gun up there would be oil, telling me it separates easy.

I was thinking of picking up some Red Line CV-2. Have you or has anyone here used that?

Thanks.

Grease is grease. Some people put "synthetic" grease in there but it relaly makes no difference when it comes to grease IMO :D Have fun!

Well there is a difference between grease synthetic or not. I could care less about synthetic grease but regular greases there are many types.

I work at a huge industrial site working with the stuff.

I should add when I said NLGI 2 EP grease thats a spec, not a brand...

Yes, well the synthetic Red Line CV-2 says it meets the NLGI #2 spec, but it also says that one should clean out all the old grease before refilling with theirs just in case there is incompatibility. However, just to be safe, I am just going to swing by the dealership and pick up a couple of GM tubes (GM P/N 12377985), since it's only a few bucks more than the Red Line, as opposed to 3 or 4 times as much as I discovered with gear oil. Thanks for all your responses...
