I've been hearing a squealing from the front brakes in the middle of the pedel. So I took her to get an anlgiment an asked the guys to check the breaks.

They said I had 1/15 left in the front and a little less in the rear drums, which they say is about 40-50% left, dose that sound right? I have no clue.

If I need new breaks what brand should I go with? Hawk/ECB/Brembo? I have 27k on the clock now, and I guess I do a lot of stop and go traffic. Only 24 miles each way but all city and freeway (stop and go).

Thanks!

If they told you that your front brakes are at 1/15, that is only 7% left, may be time to change them. It does make sense that the rears have more pad left, 40-50%, as the front does most of the stopping power. Either way, I am surprised you are having brake problems at 27k. Do you tow anything regularly? Do you have any pulse in the pedal when you are stopping?

Ramin258,

Thanks for the reply, story of my life when dealing with brakes. I don't tow, I don't feel any pulse in the brake peddle, just the screech. Like I mentioned, I do stop and go traffic to and from work daily so I"m guessing that's the cause. You're right, that doesn't make sence that the rears are lower than the front. Just looking for some reocmmendations for new pads. One's that will last longer.

Called Pepboys and they quoted me:

Brembo front pads

turn rotors if needed

break fluid flush

installed for $289

I put EBC Greenstuff pads with Prostop Platinum High Carbon Rotors. Truck stops on a dime. Installed myself.

DON'T turn your rotors you are wasting money. I'm not surprised you are having brake problems the stock brakes are junk. My rotors warped so fast. I bought junk China pads and they have lasted way longer than the stock pads
