Fender Wells  Line-X or Undercoating???

Friend got a new 1500 HD Extra Cab and he was thinking of undercoating the fenderwells.  anyone do this?

Ive seen some trucks come with that regular rubberized undercoating and it was OK and some SUV's come with some type of hard coating like Line-X.

Whats in the fenderwells of the Avalanche and SUV's from the Factory?

Should this even be done??  GM says it might void the corrosion warranty but he drives where they sand and cinder the roads in winter(Minimal salt) and wanted to protect from chips etc.  The paint isnt very thinck in the fenders.  How does GM warranty for corrosion so long that way?

Thanks

Not certain, but my guess would be the same plastic that's up front on the trucks.  As for the corrosion warranty- it's for rust through...so that's why the length is reasonable.

the blazers in the rear have a sprayed in liner type feel.  Its like a hard cottage cheese (like rhino liner)

I've been wanting to do this for some time now. I think I'm going to try the liner material. I think I may have it LineX'd. Would definitely make it look a lot better. I hate seeing the paint color in the wheel well.

Ziebart does this kind of thing. It is a cool $500 or so, but they do the inside of the fenders, the frame, the bed, and detail the interior with their "special juices". hehe When I got a quote, it was around $500 and they warrantied it for life if done before 12,000 miles. After that it was like a 5 year warranty. I did see a truck come out of there after their service and I have to admit I was impressed. Almost everything was protected from the elements.

I painted mine using flat black paint and it has held up fairly well.  I was not doing it so much for protection than for looks.  A friend of mine scuffed his up and used some of that spray in a can bedliner stuff and nearly all of it has flaked off.  The regular paint on mine held up MUCH better and I didn't even scuff mine.  However the paint does not provide much protection.
