2006 Sierra Rocker Panel Rust - Need Replacements

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 1500 extended cab Sierra 4x4. 76,000 miles and the truck is starting to rust about 4 inches from the cab corner joint. Its just pin head bubbles right now but its rusting from the inside out and has not broken the paint yet but its coming. I plan on replacing the whole thing so any suggested good replacement rocker panels. I am going with galvanized and I will probably glue them back on so I can paint the inside with POR 15 and not melt it off by welding. Anyone glue replacement rockers on a GMT 800 with success? Thanks.

We have been using the 3M adhesive (# 08115 ) since it came out and that's been awhile , and we have never had a failure with it yet . The main thing is to get the panel to fit 100 % before you get too the glue part . generally we leave about 1" or a little more and cut the rest off , when you fit it up and its good then just drill 2 1/8" holes so after the glue is on its right back where it should be without a hole lot of messing around.

The good thing about the 3M is it has small glass beads so you can't clamp it to far and squeeze all the glue out of the joint

And make sure you get the OEM style rockers with the ribs in the bottom to match the ones on the truck now they are easier to install ...

The ones in the link look correct . We pay close to $300 for them up here in Can
