So just joined don't drive the truck a lot mostly winter or hauling stuff. Its a 2004 gmc sierra 1500 bout 70k miles. Recently the fuel gauge has been reading different that the amount of actual fuel in the truck. I was driving back from moving stuff truck stays it had a tad under 1/2 tank well it decided to die and it was actually out of gas...put 6 gallons in and read just to 1/2 on the dot thinking wow 6 gals moved the needle a hair that's not right..

Dad drove the truck put $30 at 3/4 tank..then 2 days later put another $30 and barely read over 3/4 again should be bout full or full. My buddy at chevy says most likely the fuel sending unit says he sees that often in these trucks. I wanted to make a forum post see if a lot of the truck guys think the same thing or had this exact problem. Rockauto wants bout $112 shipped.

That's the part number the GM part number is that 19121637. When I looked up the parts without the part number it gave me a different SK####. Thanks guys

Could be that or the stepper motor in the gauge is dicked. That is a common issue and usually the first place to look with gauge issues on the 03-07 trucks
