Exhaust tip help

I ordered a stainless tip 2. 5 to 3 inch, did not fit over the existing tailpipe. I tried numerous adapters and couplers at the local parts stores and NOTHING worked. Either too big or too small or sloppy fitting. So, where can I buy one that I can mig weld on? Got the 4.8......thanks.

Factory pipe is 2.75 inch

I am baaing my answer off of my 04 which is the same as any other 4.8/5?3 from 99-06. Dont imagine they changed sizes

I do believe it is 2.75. Run by an exhaust shop. Problem solved.

I stopped by the local shop and inquired about a tip.............I ended up ordering the quietest Magnaflow (24" case) and will have it installed tomorrow, along with a shiny new tip.

I returned to have the muffler installed, the shop wanted $250.........HUH?! Sounds a little steep so I left. What did you pay and what do think is a fair price?
