WANTED: '67-'72 K-5 Blazer\Jimmy

I'm looking for a 67-72 Chevy K5 Blazer or GMC Jimmy.

 

Where: In Va  or one of the Neighboring States

 

Price Range:  $1000 to $5000

 

Must Haves (Yes, I'm picky): 350 V8, 3 Speed Manual Tranny, & 4WD.

 

So if you see one or come across an Ad For Sale in VA, W-VA, NC, MD, Possibly KY & TN.  Could you please pass it along to me?

oh yeah :thumb: Thats the only year style blazer I haven't had yet. Stopped looking when the garage is full and the little one arrived.

 

I'll keep my eyes out, I always see them, but unfortuanately not cheap. At least not one with any metal left!

3 speed manual trans?  Are you referring to the 4 speed with granny low i.e., L 1 2 3?

Yeah, you are kinda limiting your options.  I have seen a couple of blazer/jimmy's with a 4-spd manual (in the floor), a bunch with auto trans (that is what mine has) but I have never seen one with 3-on-the-tree.  I have no doubt that they did make them, however.  A good friend of ours has a 72 GMC K10 with 3-on-the-tree and a 307.....

Rebuilt TH350 tranny with less then 10,000 miles

4" lift, 15x10" polished wheels, 31x10.50 tires

completely rewired

new front brakes and rotors

new carpet kit

cd player

new starter, altenator, intake , Holley 670 Truck Avenger carb, distributer

rebuilt front end

brand new 4.56 gears and install kits front and rear still in box

new back glass

new rear driveline

new exhaust, 2 1/2" off stock manifolds to single 3" flowmaster and out to a 3 1/2" tailpipe

He was looking for one that is from 67-72...dang!!! 31 inch tires on a lifted blazer?!!! Man people shoved 33's on stock... talk about pizza cutters. Anyway, sounds like a nice blazer, I wish I had 5 grand.

Well, talked to a knowledgeable friend about 67-72s, he told me that the Blazer wasn't introduced until '69.

 

So take '67 and '68 out of the equation.

You are correct.  

 

Blazer started in 1969 and Jimmy in 1970.

 

I've been rebuilding my 68 firebird so when you said 67, 68, etc, I overlooked that!

 

Don't forget that some parts from 67- pickups will still work on the Blazers/Jimmys.

 

Up to 1972 is what your looking for. 1973 went to new body style but still had full removeable top. 1975 started 1/2 removeable top. (although I'd seen 1975's advertised with full top? Maybe a mid-year change. I've  bought 2 1974 blazers, 1 full convertible and  1 with a 1/2 top the guy and the VIN said it was a 1974. Got rid of it quick because I dont think a 1974 ever was made with a 1/2 top. I call it a 1975 on my website so people won't email me trying to correct me! The VIN was clear, but maybe not the truck!) Pretty much body stayed the same from 1975-1991 with only minor changes: interior, dash etc., and a front fender/hood change in 1980. Gotta watch those old hoods they will almost always eventually fold in the middle from constant closing.  [Get the repair kit before it happens!]

Main changes through 1991 was grill and some extras. My favorite was 1989-1991. You still had 1/2 convertible, 350 TBI, silverado package loaded, autohub 4x4, 700r4 OD tranny, anti lock rear brakes 90,91 and rear shoulder belts 90,91. And the 4 small headlights. The axles and diff may be a little weaker than the old ones, but they can be beefed up.

Then the 1992's came with the solid roof and I lost interest in buying Blazers.

Good luck finding a early Blazer. If I ever move and get a bigger garage/land, I'll be looking for one myself!

WOW  {picking chin up off of keyboard, and cleaning up drool} man what I would give, if I had money, to own one of those, that orange and white is my favorite color scheme on those old blazers, I don't know why, it just looks so
