1994 chevy K1500 burban 6.5td vibration

Hi all,

 

My 1994 K1500 burban - recently developed a shudder and vibration esp at speeds of 60 to 65mph,

it has been converted from gas to diesel many years ago, the engine comes from 96 K3500 truck.

 

It might be Motor mounts - are they easy to replace without pulling engine out?

Check wheel balance first. Cheap and easy.

the steering is very stable when the rest of the car is shaking, I am not sure if its wheels steering will rattle even more?

Most vibrations over 60mph are wheel balance related. A balance is usually only about $20 at most providers so its a quick, cheap, and easy solution.

I have just remembered she also vibrate at idle - also, the shudder seem to happen only when accelerating,

Fuel Problem

Injector pump do not last . 2300 rebuild cost.

I doubt it is the pump as the engine is lot newer than the car, it comes from 96 K3500 with less than 10k on the clock when it was written off

overall the engine has only done about 20k if that - besides it runs great with no issues.

 

if anyone familiar with motor mounts can shed more light that will be great.

I have a similar vibration at around 60 to 70mph.

 

I got the truck balanced twice and they told me that the rear rotors were warped... so I got new pads and rotors but the vibration continues. I'm going to balance her again (free at Costco) before I check in depth. I hope it's not the 2 year old front rotors.

 

The vibration is at typical "unbalanced" speeds so I'm hoping that another attempt will be the solution.

Had a similar problem with my 94 2500 silverado. Ended up being the carrier bearing for the driveshaft. The rubber around the bearing broke down and allowed the bearing to move around in the housing. Easy thing to check, good luck.

Np241 rear output shaft. It could be the problem. It's a known problem when the bearing is going out. Any leaks on the output seal?
