The transmission in these trucks seems not to “coast freely “as much as my old 2002 silverado. Basically when I left off the gas ( under 20mph) is seems to be an ever so sight drag. Is this normal ? I don’t know…just seemed like my old truck would roll a little more freely at low speed..

 

By the way - I have a 5.3 with 3.42 gears if that makes a difference.

Possibly due to the extra gears? Just guessing.

that's what I was thinking ... but I didn't know these trucks had that? I thought that was a HD thing only? ..

When you're coasting down the hill the fuel gets shut off.

You can actually see it when you choose in the DIC the display "instand economy".

 

The l/100km will drop to 3-4 l/100km and after a few seconds to 0 l/100km.

Exactly at that moment I can feel a little bit more braking power from the engine.

 

Maybe that's the same on your truck.
