A buddy of mine who until now has been a confirmed GMC fan just purchased a 2013 cough Ram truck cough cough we were comparing new rides the other evening and he was showing off the new air ride suspension that came with his truck, I have to admit it looked pretty neat, is it a worthwhile add on for the GMC?

It's neat but those rams can't pull sh#t. Just put a few adults in the truck and alrdy you go over weight allowed in the bed. Nice riding truck but your GM truck can do more. Airbags aren't big on those rams. The GM trucks ride very good as they sit.

I have ride-rite bags, if you want the truck to sit higher when loaded then they're good... As a perminant lift I'd get a kit... They ride pretty rough under pressure

Factory air ride in a car is ok. But I have heard lots of expensive parts need to be replaced with that system.

compressor for starters.

I do not need air ride , I own trucks and usually add springs, or in my dually put extra air bags in. for pay load.

Some of you want a truck with air ride, Buy a Peterbuilt..... Now thats a Truck !!!

Air ride suspension is perfect for those who tow a lot. And if you do off-roading, adding a lift kit or suspension lift kit is your best option.

My Avalanche has the auto leveling air suspension in the rear. It is nice when towing or when fully loaded because you never have to worry about your headlights blinding oncoming traffic. It would be a nice option on the pickups!

I've had the Firestone rear airbags on 2 of my trucks. They work really well. When I tow my boat, I inflate them to 15-20 psi. This keeps the rear end from squatting at all with a 4000 lb boat. You can also adjust the rear right height to keep torsion axle trailers level. When not towing or carrying anything heavy, I leave them empty. The ride is stock when they are empty.

i also have the firestone bags. occasionally tow a 6000lb holiday trailer, inflated to 35/40 psi. rides better when towing and doesn't sag. mind you the sag before airbags was minimal. i leave about 10 psi in unloaded.
