My ignorance will be evidenced by the question I am getting ready to ask, but this will entail running a wire from that location to the mirror?

(Maybe I don't want this work as bad as I thought)

Yes, should be 1 wire from the left or right fuse panel, behind the pillar cover and across the headliner to the mirror. I haven't done it yet but it shouldn't be too bad.

Yes. If you are good with your dealer, they may sell you the needed connector for that mirror. You could just shove a wire in there and it probably work OK too

I was in my dealer getting serviced today and I mentioned this in passing to my sales guy. He was going to mention to one of his mechanics.

I will tell you this GM sometimes blows me away with stupid things they dont do I.E.

The Steering wheel telescope should be ALL electronic not to paddles it looks stupid.

Electronic Running boards are in and are standard on alot of trucks.

HIDS HIDS HIDS HIDS, standard on everything but a GMC truck.

air vents in the back seat of a crew cab?

Yes, running an ignition 12v wire to pin 2 (red wire on my mirror) will enable the mirror dimming to function.

I unhooked the needed wire from the connector on the mirror and soldered my 12v ign wire that was run from the fuse panel and then heat shrink.

I too have done this now and isn't a problem. Just gotta run a ignition wire.

It works great. I ran a wire from the mirror down the passenger side pillar to the passenger side fuse panel.

Now all we need is the driver side dimming mirror and we can run 2 more wires to it from the mirror to make it function!

bump... I also want to do this! I found that Mito is a source for Gentex mirrors... but they want $259 for an OnStar capable auto-dim with Homelink (I need that too). Seems pretty steep; and the non-Homelink versions aren't any cheaper - they actually cost $10 more.

My (GM only) family has been wondering that for the last idk 15 years...

LT models aren't standard with a power passenger seat? That is what truly blows my mind. My 2005 Sierra SLE had the wiring harness for power passenger seat and was manual. What I don't get about the 14s are that I have power window and door lockouts for the rear and one touch up/down for my window... but I don't have one touch up for any other windows. Does anyone have a logical reason for this? Another thing I don't understand is why there is not low cabin lighting? Our 2002 1500HD was a LS model if I remember correctly, that truck had power passenger seat and an overwhelming amount of cabin light (beneath dash, doors, glove box, etc)

Don't let me come across the wrong way, I love my truck. My Z71 guages are sweet. But man it makes you wonder where $40 grand is going to. Has anyone ever stepped into a LTZ Malibu? Those cars have power everything, ambient lighting, push start, best version of MyLink I have seen, (autoadjust?) projector headlights with HIDs, and so much more... plus a turbo for 32k out the door.

In my opinion, Projectors should have been standard across the model lineup. Is that the case with Sierra? HID's too.
