auto dim mirror on SLE Sierra

What I don't get about the 14s are that I have power window and door lockouts for the rear and one touch up/down for my window... but I don't have one touch up for any other windows. Does anyone have a logical reason for this?

Yes, express up on the other 3 windows is less safe as the driver doesn't have control over what body appendages passengers (read: children) stick out.

I could definitely understand that. But I feel like if it was a true safety concern, all manufacturers would follow suit. A good chunk of vehicles offer one touch up on all four windows.

my CTS had auto down on all 4 doors, auto up on front 2 doors and manual up on rear 2 doors.

its crazy annoying, i wish i had auto up on all 4 in the sierra, although i do like how the windows go all the way down.

I have a 2014 Silverado and I want to get the auto dimming mirror I bought to work. I read that it needs 12v power but as I am no electician or car guy can anybody give me a nice step by step to do this? Or some picures as to how it is done? I would love to do this but as i am not sure exactly what to do or how to I would like a little guidance?

I picked up an auto dim mirror off a totaled 2014 SLT yesterday. It's in perfect shape, especially for $5 ! Lol!

I hooked it up to my SLE harness though, and I get nothing. No On Star lights, and no auto dim. It sounds like you guys that have done this already, the On Star comes on, just not the auto dim feature, correct? I guess it's possible this mirror is damaged internally, but externally it's perfect. I'm going back to get the wiring harness from the headliner tomorrow from the wrecked truck. Shouldn't be too hard to swap it out (I hope!).

Another question. Instead of running a whole separate wire from the fuse box, couldn't you just jumper the 12v ignition lead that powers the On Star right at the connector on the windshield? Similar to what the guys have done when fitting the power fold mirrors to a truck w/o them. See here http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/166669-puddle-lamps-and-dome-light-jumper-wire-mod/?hl=mirror .

Thoughts?

Hi Guys, new to the forum here. I bought a salvage auto dim mirror from lkq to put on my 2014 GMC Sierra SLE. Since I have to add wires to terminals 1 and 2, I was curious if anyone new where to get the little metal pins? I'd like to add the pins to the coupler to make it as factory as possible. I talked to my dealer, and they told me to buy the entire $150 harness. Thanks!

This is a great thread. I just got rid of my 07C NBS for my 14 CCSB now and I love it so far. I missed the autodimming mirror and I found this thread. I just picked up a mirror for $15 and plan on installing it when it comes. I haven't seen it yet, but are they just the JST connectors? If so, they might be the same used in RC cars. Some of my fans and accessories use the jst plug so I will see if they work.

i just added this mirror on my 2015 Hd. hooked into bcm violet/green wire that has 12v run power. works great, now has anyone hooked up wires for the back up feature and to get the d side mirror to dim as well? wondering where i can find those connections,i have added trailer mirrors as well and the door harness has the 2 extra wires. any help, thanks

I picked my mirror up from ebay for $15. The install took 20-30 mins taking my sweet time. For those wondering, I used a JST female pin and wire from an extra servo from an RC car.

You can go to your local hobby shop and pick up the JST plugs there. That will make it easier than having to get the correct pin number and ordering it from some website. Works like a charm!!

This would be a great upgrade. I have no issue flipping the lever only I've lost count how many times I've pushed the OnStar button while doing so. Annoying.

Hey who else has had success with this lately? I swapped my DL8 mirrors to DL3s so i could have power fold turn signals and puddle lamps , i also added the additional 2 wires for the auto dim feature to work , now just need the mirror and wiring to have the side view auto dim (triggered by rear view on windshield) has anyone succeeded with just getting the harness that goes with the auto dim mirror and changing it and the mirror??

Has anyone tried jumping the power for the onstar keypad over to the autodim? This would be pin 4 to pin 2. Pin 4 was reading at least 10 volts when I just tested it.

Why? It's easier just to pull the power from the airbag light in the overhead console. Took me an 8" long wire and about 15 minutes. Search these forums for a couple of threads that show you how to do it.

    • Missing pieces of the Assembly   Detergency vs Solvency   Not the same thing. Detergency is the mechanism that surrounds solid particulates preventing amalgamation. Usually accompanied by a Dispersant whose job it is to keep those encapsulated particles in Suspension. Solvency keeps things that can be dissolved in solution.    Salt is a solid that can be dissolved. Pepper is a solid that cannot be dissolved. A detergent/dispersant is effective on pepper but a solvent is more effective on salt. As long as the solids remain in either state, dissolved or dispersed then they can be be removed with the oil upon change.    How many wranglers does it take to herd cats? Depends on how many cats your herding. How much sponge does it take to soak up water? How much water is there to soak up? Point is most oil blends start with some herding ability and next to zero sponge and recently even fewer wranglers are being sent to do the same job.    So you start with a dozen cowboys and zero cows but at the drive progresses you pick up cows along the way, but not cowboys. At some point you have more cows that the wranglers can handle and some leave the herd. Deposits. And the API has an acceptable number of cows they are willing to let loose. In the ideal world zero is the right number for he rancher but to the butcher....a few lost is fine. This cow is beat to death. Let's move on....   Solvency isn't something oils on the Walmart shelf care about AT ALL. Problem is, you motor does. Fuels driven varnish sticks rings and only a solvent can keep them in check. The bet is that the solids driven portion that plug the expander rings and the oil drain backs and VVT screens and AFM screens will be an issue long before varnish is. Not that it wont be but if they market well enough the consumer can be kept ignorant enough to either believe it is "normal" (A quart in 1 or 2K is normal) OR is kept at bay longer than the first owner is likely to hang on to the unit. Solvency cost money.    Now the OEM's have John Q. Public buffaloed into the belief that the number cows accumulated along the trail is a known and predictable CONSTANT. It isn't. Nor is the rate at which they crossed paths with them. Only the number of wrangles is constant. Or was. Each new generation of oil sees fewer and fewer of them.    So what happens when the number of cowboys is lower (lower TBN) with each seasons trail but the trial is longer (OCI) and the number of cows along that trail continues increase? (Conditions that promote deposits).    For awhile the blenders were on to something. Better bases are harder to degrade (fewer cows) but that was overtaken by a longer trail (OCI) and improved breeding (More cows) while continuing to reduce the cowboy staffing levels (TBN/Aniline #).    Marketing has been successful. We've fired most of the staff, cows breed line bunnies, the trail is ten times longer and we've convinced the boss his ranch is in better shape that it ever was.    That kids is just the cleaning side. The side few pay attention to.

    • Looking for this part for my truck. They don't sell just that one piece and to get it you have to pay over $100 even used for the whole air tube. The piece the hose clamp snaps into that is held on by the screw and nut. If anyone has access to one please let me know.
